We are a community of drone hobbyists and professionals getting together to share our experience and educate each other.

Who We Are

We bring Santa Barbara, Goleta, Ventura, Oxnard, Santa Maria drone enthusiasts together. This club is suitable and single point of contact for both Part 107 professional remote pilots and those flying for fun (hobbyists).
Effective September 18, 2018, we are an officially chartered club (#5433) of The Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

MEETINGS

We meet at Santa Barbara Airport Visitors Center – 45 Hartley Place, Santa Barbara, CA 93117
Meetings are held every 3rd Thursday of the Month @ 6:30 pm.

OUR HISTORY

As the number of drone registrations and remote pilot certificates continue to rise, new drone pilots and experienced operators alike must navigate the FAA's UAS regulations in Part 107 as well as an increasing number of federal, state, and local laws that apply to drones and often carry strict penalties.

Established in 2017

Our club was established on Oct 29, 2017 to enable Drone enthusiasts in Santa Barbara, Ventura Counties in California to share their experience, photos, videos and learn about flying safely, respecting FAA rules, laws and local ordinances.

Became Charter Member

Santa Barbara Drone Club (SBDC) became the Charter Member #5433 of Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), a nationwide community-based organization (CBO) recognized by the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA), and operates under it's guidelines fulfilling the requirements of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018.
